The Hidden Benefit Of Networking That Most Executives Overlook

What is the hidden benefit of networking that most executives overlook?

This has nothing to do with job seeking.

It has more to do with making you a better professional.

The problem is most people say they don’t have time to network, or they don’t like selling themselves, or they think networking is a waste of time.

But imagine if you didn’t think about networking as a self-serving, disingenuous way to promote yourself.

Instead, you used it as an opportunity to learn and grow and become more valuable to your company.

My client, a young general counsel sits on many boards and belongs to various associations related to his expertise.

Because of his involvement outside of work, he is able to learn about industry best practices and bring innovative ideas back to his company.

It also helps him build relationships with the other players in his market.

His professional networking activity serves to educate him and is the reason he was recruited to join his last company.

So if you think networking is a waste of time or it’s all about you, think again.

It is one of the best you can learn and grow as a professional.
